Tarbert Power Station

Tarbert power station is located on Tarbert Island on the Shannon Estuary in the north of County Kerry. It is one mile from Tarbert village along the N67 which runs from Tarbert to Kilrush via the Tarbert car ferry. The station was opened in 1969 by the ESB and was sold in 2009 to Endesa a Spanish power company. They in turn sold it to SSE (Scottish Southern Energy) in 2012.

The picture of Tarbert power station was taken from the top of Tarbert Hill looking eastwards up the Shannon. Tarbert lighthouse can be seen on the bottom left hand corner. The 2nd picture is taken from the island road with the Shannon bar in the foreground. The 3rd picture is taken from the Glin road east of Tarbert. Pictures 4,5 and 6 are of Moneypoint power station taken from the south side of the shannon estuary in Tarbert.

Keldun House B&B is located on the main street in Tarbert only 1 minute drive from the power station.
